In 2007, Martinican writer Raphaël CONFIANT and the ecologist Louis BOUTRIN wrote a book called "Chronique d'un empoisonnement annoncé" in
order to denounce the terrific consequences of a pesticide called
chlordecone which had been used in the banana plantations of Martinique
(and Guadeloupe) from 1972 to 2002.
As R. CONFIANT explains in this video the whole country has been
polluted : the land, the rivers, the coasts etc. This situation is
directly responsible for the explosion of all types of cancers in the
island...
